Sky has confirmed a massive shake-up for its popular 24-hour sports news channel.
Sky Sports News is to move to a brand new studio and will be renamed Sky Sports News HQ. It will also switch channel numbers on the Sky platform, moving to channel 401 which is currently occupied by Sky Sports 1.
Sky says the new studio is:
> double the size of its current studio
> has 11 different presenting positions
> has an 18 square-metre video wall
> and has an investigation desk and social media desk
New programmes and features are also being promised as part of the new-look from Sky Sports News HQ's team of more than 200 staff, 32 reporters and 20 presenters. Sky Sports' apps and websites will also sport a new look as part of the changes.
Sky Sports News HQ will go live on August 12 - the same day the new Sky Sports 5 is launched.
At the same time channel numbers on the Sky platform for Sky Sports channels will change. The new numbers will be:
Sky Sports News HQ - 401
Sky Sports 1 - 402
Sky Sports 2 - 403
Sky Sports 3 - 404
Sky Sports 4 - 405
Sky Sports 5 - 406
