Thierry Henry joins Sky Sports

Thierry Henry will appear as a football expert on Sky Sports from the start of 2015 after agreeing a deal to join the broadcaster.

Henry confirmed the move as he announced his retirement from football. As well as appearing on Sky's football coverage alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness, he will also act as a Sky Sports' ambassador on projects aimed at inspiring young people to achieve their potential using sport as a platform.

The 37-year-old said: "I can't wait for the next chapter to begin with Sky Sports. I played for some of the best teams in football and now I'm joining what I think is the best team in television."

Sky Sports boss Barney Francis added: "The best team just got better. This will help take Sky Sports' football coverage to the next level."

Other Sky experts welcomed Henry's arrival. Gary Neville says he is "looking forward to working with him" and hailed him as "potentially one of the greatest players in the world" at his peak.

Jamie Carragher added: "I would of loved him to be on the same team as me during my playing career, I'm delighted we're finally on the same side."

Jamie Redknapp added that Sky Sports viewers are "in for a treat" and that he "can't wait to work alongside him."
