Who's won final packages of live Premier League games?

The Premier League is set to reveal who has won the final live TV packages for the three seasons from 2019-20 with speculation an online operator has snatched up to 20 live games.

Sky Sports and BT Sport took five of the seven packages on offer when the original rights auction concluded in February.

That saw Sky clinch all the key first-pick games available keeping their Super Sunday, Monday night and Friday slots.

BT lost all their first picks. The deal - which doesn't start until the beginning of the 2019-20 season - will see BT broadcast Saturday lunchtime games (instead of the tea-time Saturday offerings in the current contract which Sky will now take on).

Sky also clinched the eight Saturday evening games, taking their total number of live games to 128 a season, more than they've ever held before. BT are left with 32 matches.

The less-attractive midweek and bank holiday packages of 20 games each failed to meet the reserve price at the original auction.

But it now seems although the total raised from UK TV rights is set to fall, a big increase in overseas rights means the Premier League is willing to accept lower bids than originally anticipated for the remaining games.

The Daily Mail reports Sky and BT have each clinched 20 games each (with the potential to show all midweek matches at the same time via the red button as happens with the Champions League).

But while the Daily Telegraph agrees BT has secured 20 matches, it reports the other 20 have gone to an un-named online operator with speculation it could be one of the tech giants such as Amazon or Facebook.

The Premier League has so far not commented with reports suggesting the final package details will be announced on Thursday at a meeting of clubs.
