SEVEN big changes you need to know about footie on TV in the new season

1) MASSIVE MIDWEEKS

Prepare to be spoilt for choice in midweeks.
As part of a new arrangement with the EFL, Sky will be able to screen EVERY midweek Championship game live.
Eagle-eyed fans will notice that midweek fixture lists for the Championship have been evenly split between Tuesdays and Wednesdays to accommodate this.
Sky are yet to confirm how they'll do this, but it's likely that they will show one match on the Sky Sports Football channel with the rest available via the red button and online.
This will be in addition to the 127 regular live games it screens from across the EFL as well.
And when there's a clash with the Champions League matchdays, you'll have a massive choice of games.
BT Sport will again show every game live (as well as the Europa League), but kick-off times are changing with double-header nights in the group stages - matches will kick-off at 6pm and 8pm.

2) MORE LIVE FA CUP GAMES THAN EVER BEFORE

The new season will see the start of a new three-year FA Cup deal with the BBC and BT Sport once again sharing coverage.
But from rounds one to five BT Sport will show an extra game each season on top of last season's quota.
That leaves the prospect of up to six FA Cup games live on TV in those rounds - four on BT Sport, two on BBC One.
In all, up to 30 live games will be screened by BT Sport and up to 16 games by the BBC.
Both channels will show one live semi-final each and the final will be screened by both broadcasters.
The new TV deal means more prize money available to competing teams with an increase in every round from the grassroots extra preliminary round right to the winners in the final.
Last season BBC Sport streamed online and via connected TVs one game from each of the preliminary and qualifying rounds, but it's not been confirmed yet whether this will happen again in the new season.

3) EFL HIGHLIGHTS ARE ON THE MOVE

There's a channel switch for weekly highlights of the EFL.
You'll have to go a lot further down the programme guide to find them as they'll now be on Freeview channel Quest TV which is also on Sky and other platforms as well.
Although Channel 5 have lost the rights, host Colin Murray is moving to Quest with them and the show will remain in the 9pm Saturday night slot before Match of the Day.
Quest are run by Discovery which also runs Eurosport so they have some sports broadcasting experience.
Quest's deal with the EFL also gives them highlights to the Carabao Cup.

4) NO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS ON A FREE-TO-AIR CHANNEL

It's the end of ITV's sofa on a Wednesday and Thursday night for Champions League and Europa League games.
For the first time since the competitions started, there will be no presence on a traditional free-to-air TV channel for highlights.
From this season BT Sport will be the ONLY place to see the games whether live or in highlights or goals-form.
BT point out they will be free-to-view to non-subscribers via their social media accounts and online.

5) EVEN MORE LIVE NON-LEAGUE LIVE GAMES

The UK TV audience appetite for live football is so big even the fifth tier of football is getting increased coverage.
A new deal between BT Sport and the National League will see pretty much a live game screened from the league from each match round.
BT's weekly highlights show will continue (also available for free online) as will the quirky access-all-areas style of coverage.

6) LALIGA AND SERIE A ARE SWITCHING CHANNELS

Eleven Sports mark their arrival in the UK with two new channels and most notably every live game from LaLiga (snatched from Sky) and Serie A (plundered from BT).
In addition, Swedish and Dutch league have been added with the Chinese Super League coming next year.
Eleven will definitely be available online from August with talks on-going for Sky, BT and Virgin to also carry their channels.
Pricing details have yet to be revealed, but Eleven have confirmed monthly or yearly subscription deals will be available.

7) ENGLAND'S UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE GAMES ARE LIVE ONLY ON SKY

Sky will be hoping to tap into the England feelgood factor with exclusive live coverage of the UEFA Nations League, a new alternative to friendlies which culminates in mini-finals next summer.
In fact, Sky will screen every single match from the new contest including the other home nations.
Highlights of the England Nations League matches will be on ITV.
ITV will still show live England's other friendly matches and Euro2020 qualifiers.
