Sky Sports has strengthened its position as the home of live domestic football by agreeing a five-year deal for exclusive coverage of Scottish Premiership - on a day when it also rubber-stamped a new EFL TV contract.
It means BT Sport - which currently shares live coverage with Sky - are left empty-handed with no live Scottish football coverage.
The new Sky deal will see them screen 48 Premiership matches a season from the 2020-21 campaign with play-off matches also to be shown.
It came in a frantic few hours for the subscription service which also saw its previously announced deal to remain the home of live EFL matches confirmed despite protests from some Championship clubs that Sky should pay more.
In the end the EFL - while noting concerns of some clubs - decided to press ahead with the deal which will run from five seasons from next year.
In further developments, BT Sport lost Betfred Cup games to Premier Sports and BBC Scotland renewed its deals for TV highlights and live Championship games.
The new deals see BT's football offer left as very much the secondary player to Sky.
BT Sport's main football draw over Sky will be exclusive Champions League coverage. That deal will continue for at least two seasons after this year.
And while BT increases the number Premier League matches it can show next season, it has crucially lost all key top pick games to Sky.
