Live La Liga football to be shown on ITV 4

Spanish football's top-flight division will be screened live every week free-to-air on ITV 4 after a deal was struck until the end of the season.

ITV 4 will show one live LaLiga match from every match round between now and the end of the season.

As part of other changes, subscription service Premier Sports will show four matches live from each match round.

Premier Sports will have the first pick of each match round so the El Clasico on March 2 will be shown on Premier rather than ITV 4.

All games outside the 3pm Saturday blackout window will be shown on digital streaming service Eleven Sports (including ITV 4 and Premier's matches).

ITV 4 will also screen a weekly midweek highlights programme.

It's the latest change to the rights for LaLiga since Eleven Sports snatched them from Sky Sports in the summer.

Eleven had promised to launch a TV channel, but failed to secure a deal with Sky, BT or Virgin and struggled to attract subscribers to its online and app-only service.

It has already had to give up its live rights to Italian, Dutch and Chinese football which have also been snapped up by Premier Sports.

Eleven has pledged to continue its LaLiga service until the end of the service but with ITV 4 and Premier now showing five Spanish games each week, Eleven's UK future looks in serious doubt beyond that
