The FA Cup is to remain on the BBC free-to-air until at least 2025 after the BBC struck a new four-year deal.
The BBC are currently in the first of a three season deal, but today's announcement extends that further to the end of the 2024-25 season.
Under the agreement, the BBC will show more live games than previously with up to six matches being screened from the first two rounds before the Championship and Premier League clubs enter the competition in the third round.
Due to most football being on subscription services, the FA Cup regularly gets by far the highest live audiences of the regular season. Only England and other World Cup and European Championship tournaments get bigger audiences.
The Football Association has yet to confirm who has won the rest of the rights to FA Cup games which BT Sport currently hold until the end of the 2020-21 season.
BT bosses have previously suggested they might not be bidding for so many rights for major sports contracts so the broadcaster could face a fight from Sky.
